Get Yourself Winter Ready! Fight The Flu

It’s that time of year when temperatures are dropping, family and friends are gathering, and we’re all a little bit more vulnerable to seasonal illnesses like COVID and Flu.
A statement from the GHA follows below:
The best way to get ready for winter is to protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. You can also give your immune system a boost by eating a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy weight.
The vaccines are available to anyone over the age of 50, those with a long-term health condition or with significant contact or caring responsibilities for someone with a long-term health condition. They are also recommended for pregnant women, health and care workers and anyone living long-term in a residential care home such as Elderly Residential Services (ERS).
Both vaccines can be taken at the same appointment. To book, please call 200 66966 between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday. The vaccine clinics will be held Monday to Friday at the PCC between 1pm and 4pm.
The Director of Public Health, Dr Helen Carter, said: ‘It’s really importantto take both the COVID and Flu vaccines if you’re vulnerable or have frequent close contact with someone who is vulnerable. This year, the winning poster from our schools poster competition, beautifully designed by Nouha Tarrak from St. Bernard’s School, has been put up in public areas to encourage and remind everyone to be a superhero and help fight the flu.”
