The Minister with responsibility for Training, Apprenticeships and Skills, Christian Santos, met with the trainees of the PSV Driver Guide Apprenticeship course at the start of their induction. 

In collaboration with Calypso Tours from MH Bland Group of Companies, this programme is part of Minister Santos’ upskilling initiative designed to equip people with the essential skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the tourism industry, as both PSV drivers and tour guides. 

Five applicants passed the stringent application and interview process, which also had an examination component, in order to determine their competency to qualify for their places on the programme. In addition to earning a salary whilst gaining training, experience, mentorship and qualifying as PSV drivers and licenced tour guides, the successful applicants will onboard into full time permanent employment with Calypso Tours at the end of their training period. 

Minister Santos said: “I am extremely pleased these individuals are being given the tools and support to embark on this exciting career. As Minister for Tourism, it is my vision to promote Gibraltar as much as possible. It is important that this cohort realises how their charisma and ability to tell our story to our tourism market will make Gibraltar an unforgettable location and a unique experience.
