Childline Gibraltar Launches 'Stay Safe' Campaign to Protect Children from Abuse

Childline Gibraltar, in collaboration with the Department of Education, will be delivering assemblies across schools in Gibraltar as part of this year’s Blue Week, taking place from 10th to 14th March.
Blue Week is an annual event for the Childline Gibraltar charity, to help raise awareness of the vital work carried out by the charity, with assemblies being delivered to schools, supporters encouraged to raise awareness by wearing blue on Friday 14th March 2025 and for the community to participate in the fundraising Quiz on Wednesday 12th March 2025.
This year, Childline aims to safeguard children by focusing on the theme “Stay Safe” to provide crucial awareness within our community to keep children safe, particularly from sexual abuse. We are proud to have the support of the Education Department and Child Protection Committee in delivering this important message.
This year’s campaign focuses on the NSPCC’s Talk PANTS initiative, an important safeguarding programme aimed at educating children on how to stay safe from abuse. Talk PANTS is an age-appropriate, evidence-based educational programme developed by the NSPCC and Childline to help children understand that their bodies belong to them and that they should speak to a trusted adult if something makes them feel uncomfortable or worried. The initiative has been designed with input from children, parents, carers, and teachers to ensure it effectively supports children’s safety and well-being.
As part of the campaign, Childline Gibraltar will be delivering face-to-face assemblies to year groups and whole schools, as well as providing video assemblies that can be played in every classroom, across every school in Gibraltar. This ensures that all students have access to these vital safeguarding messages in a way that is engaging and accessible.
Additionally, to help reinforce these crucial safety messages throughout the year, Childline Gibraltar will be donating a copy of the NSPCC UK’s PANTS book to every school library. This book serves as a valuable resource to ensure children continue to have the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves beyond Blue Week 2025.
In secondary schools, Childline Gibraltar’s 'Stay Safe!' assemblies address the importance of recognizing healthy and unhealthy relationships. This age-appropriate session educates students on personal boundaries, identifying signs of unhealthy relationships, and knowing where to seek help if they feel unsafe. The assembly empowers young people to reflect on their own relationships and safety, equipping them with the knowledge to protect themselves and communicate effectively.
As part of the Blue Week campaign, Childline Gibraltar encourages individuals and businesses to show their support by wearing blue on Friday, 14th March. We invite participants to share their photos on social media, tagging the charity across all platforms. Additionally, there are still a few spots available for our fundraising Quiz Night on Wednesday, 12th March, so gather your friends and join in for an evening of fun while supporting a great cause. This initiative aims to unite the community in support of Childline’s mission to prevent child abuse and ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
