RUSI Experts Deliver Comprehensive Sanctions Training To Public Sector Bodies

Experts from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) have delivered a comprehensive training day to public sector bodies on Sanctions, enabling participants to stay updated on the latest sanctions developments and their connection to shifting geopolitics.
A statement from the Government follows below:
The training sessions focused on providing an overview of financial sanctions, covering key frameworks and mechanisms that strengthen international compliance and enforcement. Attendees covered the United Nations sanctions regimes, the Financial Action Task Force’s recommendations on implementing targeted financial sanctions, and the increasing impact of sanctions imposed by the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union. It also included a group case study exercise which covered sanctions evasion typologies, allowing attendees to apply their knowledge in a practical setting.
As regulatory requirements and enforcement measures become more complex, public sector bodies play an important role in mitigating risks and ensuring compliance. Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and fully supported by HM Government of Gibraltar, the training is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance expertise and capacity-building among government and supervisory professionals working in this field.
Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry, Nigel Feetham KC MP, said: "It is important that our public sector professionals have the relevant skills and understanding of the very dynamic nature of sanctions, allowing them to effectively manage complex sanctions regimes. Training initiatives like this, delivered by leading experts at RUSI, enhance Gibraltar’s ability to manage sanctions implementation and protect global financial systems."
