Tyrone Buttigieg Returns To Fight On The Rock After 11 Years - Retains Title

Tyrone ‘El Bombero’ Buttigieg returned to fight on the Rock for the first time in 11 years on Saturday night at the Europa Sports Complex. Tyrone retained his WBC Latin title after beating the Venezuelan Kervin Romero (record 9W 4L (6KO)).
Gibraltarian brothers Kriss and Evan Montegriffo made their professional debuts at the event with both of them beating their opponents.
Tyrone, speaking to YGTV, said that his fight was only announced two weeks ago, just two days after his last fight. Although this was very short notice, he took on the challenge: “It was a big opportunity that I couldn’t let go because it was organised by the international promoters Warren Boxing Management. It was magical to box in front of a home crowd.”
Because of the short notice, leaving little time for recovery and training, Tyrone says he was “quite tired” and that it wasn’t his best fight. Nevertheless, he won the contest 78-74 in his favour.
Tyrone now has plans to go back to fighting in Spain early in the summer.
