Government Announces Extension To St Martin's School

The Government has announced plans for the extension of St Martin’s School to provide for the school’s growing population and replace the recently announced temporary facilities at Glacis.
A statement from the Government follows below:
Government is pleased to announce the plans for the extension of St Martin’s School to provide for the school’s growing population and replace the recently announced temporary facilities at Glacis.
The extension will comprise of approximately 1900m2 of gross internal area at ground level and will provide for:
• 9 classrooms with accessible toilets
• 5 hygiene Rooms
• A Sensory Hub with soft playrooms, Snoezlen and Sensory Gym facilities
• Staff and administration offices
• General storage and cleaners’ rooms
• New lift and stairs from ground floor to top floor playgrounds
• New staffroom
• Vehicle drop-off and collection zone
At roof level there will be new playgrounds to cater for greater numbers of pupils, providing outdoor space of approximately 400m2 with covered areas.
The specifications and requirements have been provided by the Senior Team of St Martin’s School and by the Department of Education. GCArchitects, who were the lead design team of St Martin’s School, have been engaged to design the extension.
The Minister for Education, the Hon John Cortes, said: “Once again this Government is proving its total commitment to our children and will meet its commitment to provide excellent facilities for a growing St Martin’s. This will allow growth of the school for the next few years.”
