Eco Festival 4 Welcomes Over 1300 People To Europa Pool

The fourth Eco Festival brought together more than 1300 people to celebrate World Environment Day and World Bicycle Day.

A statement from OTWO follows below:

Held on Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June, the festival reached  full capacity as families, friends, and local businesses came out to enjoy  two days of live music, eco-friendly activities, and time outdoors.

Organised by OTWO Magazine, the Eco Festival offered something for  everyone – from pool fun with slides and water games, to Aqua Zumba  sessions, a funfair zone with inflatables provided by Local Events, eco markets, food stalls, and chill-out areas.

A wide variety of local NGOs took part, helping to create a welcoming  and supportive atmosphere. PossAbilities, Clubhouse Gibraltar, Youth  Services, GibSams, Gibraltar Horticultural Society, and Men in Need all  hosted engaging activities and information stands. We are truly grateful  to these organisations for their presence, their work, and their  commitment to the community. Special thanks also go to Ireana, a local  talent from Eco Decor, who beautifully decorated the sustainable selfie  area, adding a creative touch to the event.

The music lineup, introduced by Della Slade, brought live performances  to the stage throughout the weekend. On Saturday, the crowd enjoyed  Nalayia, Bevan, and Jesse Sampere. Sunday’s lineup featured Surianne  & Win, Farrah Slade, Brianna, Miah, and Adrian Pizarello.

A fashion show was held on Saturday, organised by Charlene Figueras  from Youth Services, in collaboration with Clubhouse Gibraltar. This was  followed by a clothes swap in Clubhouse’s marquee, where visitors

could browse and exchange clothes on railings – a simple and creative  way to encourage sustainable fashion choices.

On Sunday morning, the OTWO team led a community bicycle ride,  where over 300 cyclists followed a route from Eastern Beach to Europa  Pool, with support from the Royal Gibraltar Police. Minister for Sport  Leslie Bruzon joined the cyclists on the road.

Minister for Environment John Cortes attended the festival on both days,  showing his continued support for environmental action and local  engagement. Also, he awarded medals to all children under 13 who  completed the bicycle route.

The Sponsor Area was another highlight. Metalrok presented their  Senegal Appeal Initiative, while Wastage Products Limited ran their No  Wipes in Pipes campaign. Visitors also had the chance to speak with  businesses supporting green action in Gibraltar.

A wide range of food and drink was available across the weekend.  Visitors enjoyed bites from Potatwo, Top Dogs, Dominos Pizza Gibraltar,  a bar by Lewis Stagnetto, and a marquee hosted by local gin distillery  Spirit of The Rock.

This year’s festival was made possible thanks to the generous support of  our sponsors: EY, EVG, Wastage Products Limited, Lewis Stagnetto,  Metalrok, Recycle.gi, and Turicum Private Bank. Without them, an event  like this simply wouldn’t be possible. We’re grateful for their commitment  and support for sustainability in Gibraltar.

Our thanks also go to our event partners: Vigilant Security, Barton,  Eroski, Gib Scaffolding, and Safety Solutions.

“It’s great to see the Eco Festival growing every year,” said Vanessa  Byrne, Managing Director of OTWO and the festival organiser. “More  people from the community are joining us, and more local businesses  are getting involved. That tells us we’re heading in the right direction.  The biggest reward is seeing all the support, the smiling faces, and the  real connections being made. The OTWO team is extremely grateful to  everyone who helped make this weekend so special.”
