World Environment Day Shop Window Competition

For the third year running, OTWO Magazine, in partnership with the Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses (GFSB), hosted its annual Shop Window Competition to mark World Environment Day.
A statement from OTWO follows below:
This year’s theme, #BeatPlasticPollution, invited local businesses to get involved by decorating their shop windows with sustainability in mind.
This year’s finalists were: ISOLAS, Marble Arc, and The Cellar by Saccone & Speed. Each one brought their own personality and creativity to the challenge, helping to raise awareness of environmental issues in a way that felt engaging, local, and fun.
Judging took place on the 28th of May, with a panel made up of Juan José Trujillo, Creative Director at OTWO; The Hon. Dr. John Cortes, Minister for the Environment; and David Revagliatte, Editor, Thrive Magazine (GFSB). Each window had its own strengths, and
the judges said it wasn’t easy to pick a winner — everyone had clearly put care and effort into their displays.
David Revagliatte, Editor, Thrive Magazine (GFSB), said: “This is my second year as a judge, and once again, I was super
impressed by the effort and thought that went into each display. Well done to Marble Arc, and to all the businesses that took part, you’ve
helped put sustainability front and centre in a way that’s both engaging and meaningful.”
After much deliberation, Marble Arc was chosen as the winner of this year’s competition. Their window stood out for how well it reflected the theme, combining creativity and environmental
awareness in a way that truly captured the spirit of the day. To mark the occasion, they were presented with a handcrafted sustainable trophy, along with a prize bundle including a three-month full-page advert in OTWO Magazine, a half-page advert in Thrive Magazine, 12 months of GFSB membership, and a feature in Thrive’s print and digital newsletters.
Vanessa Byrne, Managing Director of OTWO, said: “It was great to see how each business approached the theme in their own way. This competition isn’t just about how a window looks
— it’s about encouraging people to think differently about our environment and inspiring others to do the same. Every year, more businesses get involved, and we love seeing that momentum grow.”
Raju Purswani, Managing Director of Marble Arc, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won this year’s Shop Window Competition. At Marble Arc, we believe that fashion and sustainability can, and must, go hand in hand. That’s why we’ve made it a priority to work with more eco-conscious brands like Ecoalf, who turn waste materials into something meaningful and wearable.”
Joanna Moreno, who conceptualised the winning display, said: “This competition was a fantastic opportunity for us to creatively showcase that commitment and help raise awareness of the importance of protecting our planet. A special thank you to our colleague Ryan Dignam for kindly supplying the used fishing nets, a key part of our design that really brought the message home.”
Marble Arc concluded: “We’re proud to be part of Gibraltar’s growing movement toward a more sustainable future.”
