Department of Education Champions Inclusivity and Acceptance with LGBTQ+ Inclusivity and Awareness Training

In a “powerful step” toward fostering a more inclusive and respectful work environment, the administration team, advisory team and educational psychology team at the Department of Education received Inclusivity and Awareness Training delivered by the Gibraltar LGBTQ+ Committee.
A statement continued: “The initiative, which coincides with Pride Month, reflects the Government of Gibraltar’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
“The training was designed to educate staff on inclusive language, the spectrum of gender identity and sexual orientation, and the importance of allyship in the modern workplace.
“The representatives of the Gibraltar LGBTQ+ Committee, delivered a very informative session on inclusivity, acceptance and a greater understanding of the difficulties faced by the LGBTQ+ community. The session provided opportunities for open and respectful discussion, where participants were able to reflect on their unconscious bias, challenge outdated norms and build empathy through understanding.
“By investing in this training, the Department of Education aims to strengthen its culture of acceptance and position itself as a forward-thinking department that prioritises psychological safety and equity for all team members.
“We wish to thank all involved in organising this event as well as Unite the Union and GGCA for their continued support.”
