Minister Santos Congratulates BTEC Acting Students on Winning Best Play at the Duncan Rand Youth Drama Festival

BTEC Acting Students under the tutorage of the Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts (GAMPA) and the Gibraltar College have won the Best Play award at the Dand Rand Youth Drama Festival at the Medway Little Theatre in Rochester, UK.
‘The Trial’ written by Steven Berkoff and directed by Julian Felice was awarded the top prize. Actor Nicholas Raggio won Best Youth Actor, with Bella Navas and Kate Williamson winning joint Best Actress Award.
Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, Christian Santos, has congratulated GAMPA Principal Tanya Santini and Gibraltar College Principal Daniel Benrimoj on the success of the cohort of BTEC Acting Students.
Minister Santos said: “I am extremely proud of this achievement by the BTEC Acting Students. The course is the equivalent of an A-Level qualification which was launched in 2023 in collaboration by the Department of Education, the Gibraltar College and GAMPA. It offers the opportunity to continue education in acting and drama through a vocational pathway. I am always looking for pathways for our young people to have opportunities to succeed, whatever the route. My most heartfelt congratulations to the young actors on their wins and a special mention to the teachers, mentors, directors and families of the students, who have encouraged and supported them on their journeys.”
