Gibraltar Forces Community 24-Hour Swimathon For SSAFA

Members of Gibraltar’s Armed Forces community will be raising funds in support of SSAFA with a 24-Hour Swimathon.
A statement from SSAFA follows below:
Members of Gibraltar’s Armed Forces community take to the water today for a 24-Hour Swimathon, raising funds in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
The event being held at HELM Pool from 12:00 on 19th August to 12:00 on 20th August 2025, brings together teams from the Army, Royal Navy, RAF, Royal Gibraltar Regiment, LEC/UKBC and their families. Swimmers of all abilities will take part, from those swimming a single length to others testing their stamina across the whole event. A community BBQ will round off the event.
SSAFA Gibraltar expressed its gratitude to those who have organised the swimathon. Alan Jones, Chair of SSAFA Gibraltar, said:
“At SSAFA Gibraltar, we are humbled and inspired by the commitment of our Armed Forces community. The 24-Hour Swimathon is not only a fantastic fundraiser but also a true demonstration of what community spirit means on the Rock. Our heartfelt thanks go especially to Petty Officer Gemma Ellis for leading this initiative, and to every swimmer taking part. The funds raised will go directly towards supporting service personnel, veterans, and their families here in Gibraltar.”
