The Gibraltar Classical Music Society opens it 2025/2026 season with a spellbinding evening as Tenor Nicholas Martin returns to the Gibraltarian stage after 25 years with internationally acclaimed pianist Lora Dimitrova and unite for an unforgettable recital of Argentinian Tangos, Latin American and Spanish songs at 19:30 on Thursday 25th September 2025 at Holy Trinity Cathedral.

A statement from the organisers continued: “Drawing inspiration from his coastal roots, Nicholas Martin’s hauntingly expressive voice carries the azure skies and resonant echoes of the sea.  They present a heartfelt collection of romantic songs inspired by pivotal moments from Nicholas’ life. With a voice that shifts effortlessly from delicate intimacy to soaring power, Nicholas leads audiences into a world of longing, passion, and timeless storytelling, blending raw honesty with profound emotion.

“Nicholas’s career spans stages across the UK and Europe, with appearances on Meridian Television, GBC, and Spanish Television. His repertoire embraces Early Music, Opera, Operetta, Neapolitan song, and more. A true linguist, fluent in Spanish, English, Italian, and Portuguese, he is especially acclaimed for his empathy with the Latin and Hispanic repertoire. His performances are marked by critical acclaim for their depth and authenticity.

“Joining him is the renowned pianist Lora Dimitrova, whose international solo concert career has seen her perform with legendary orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Georg Solti and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under Kurt Masur. Lora is not only an acclaimed performer but also a distinguished educator, having taught at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and led the keyboard department at the Bromley Youth Music Trust, where she created an award-winning jazz programme.

“She is the founder of the Sospiro Piano Centre and a winner of the prestigious Parkhouse Award for Chamber Music. Known for her interpretative depth and musical intelligence, Lora has inspired generations of students while continuing to captivate audiences across Europe.

“This concert promises to be a meeting of two exceptional artists whose musical journeys intertwine profound emotion with technical mastery. Audiences can expect a programme that moves seamlessly between piano brilliance and vocal artistry.”
