Gibraltar Heritage Trust Welcomes The Return Of The Remembrance Sunday Service To The Cross Of Sacrifice

The Gibraltar Heritage Trust has welcomed the decision to return to the annual Remembrance Sunday service to its traditional setting at the Cross of Sacrifice at Winston Churchill Avenue.
A statement from the Gibraltar Heritage Trust follows below:
The Gibraltar Heritage Trust warmly welcomes the decision to return the annual Remembrance Sunday service to its traditional setting at the Cross of Sacrifice at Winston Churchill Avenue.
The Trust has long advocated for this location to be reinstated as the focal point of Gibraltar’s Remembrance commemorations, recognising its powerful symbolism and historical significance. When the event was moved in 2014 the Trust expressed its view that the Cross of Sacrifice remained the most fitting setting for this act of national remembrance. As well as aligning Gibraltar’s observance with the traditions followed across the Commonwealth, the return of the ceremony to the memorial restores a direct connection between remembrance and honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
