Minister Cortes Launches New Heritage book

Last week Minister John Cortes launched ‘La Cuesta Mr Bourn & Other Stories' written by Manolo Galliano and illustrated with photographs by Victor Hermida at the Gibraltar Heritage Trust.
A statement from the Government follows below:
Minister for Heritage John Cortes was at the Gibraltar Heritage Trust’s premises at John Mackintosh Square last week to launch the latest book published by the Trust. ‘La Cuesta Mr Bourn & Other Stories” is another of the books on Gibraltar written by Manolo Galliano and illustrated with photographs by Victor Hermida.
The book recalls many of the author’s memories of the Gibraltar in which he grew up and includes an Appendix with the words of many of then traditional children’s songs once recited in Gibraltar’s streets and patios, such as “Eenie, Meeine”, “El Tio de la Pipa” and “I sent a Letter to My Love”.
Trust Chairman Ian Balestrino introduced the book at the launch, congratulating the author, while Minister Cortes stressed the importance of writing down and publishing such intangible heritage, to ensure that these memories of 20th Century Gibraltar are not lost.
