Chief Minister at Joint Ministerial Council in London to Continue Modernising Relationship with UK

The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, has been in London today to participate in the annual meeting of the Overseas Territories (OTs) Joint Ministerial Council, taking place at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The JMC meeting was chaired by Minister for Europe and the OTs, Stephen Doughty, together with President of the Political Council of the UK Overseas Territories Association, Dr Natalio Wheatley (BVI Premier).
Political leaders from the OTs sat around the table with UK ministers and officials to discuss the UK-OTs relationships and how to continue progressing these.
The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, said: “Getting together around the table once a year with our great friends in the UK Government and FCDO, and with the political leaders and officials of the other Overseas Territories, is very important work which helps us to create and strengthen the bonds and working relationships we share. Today we have discussed constitutions and the potential for official Compacts, between the United Kingdom and each of the territories, describing how we work together and continuously strengthen these partnerships. This is something that has to happen all the time to modernise our relationship with the UK and keep it current and stronger than ever.”
