Minister Cortes Thanks Outgoing Heritage Trust Chair

Minister for Heritage John Cortes met with outgoing Chair of the Gibraltar Heritage Trust, Ian Balestrino, to thank him for his work and commitment to the preservation and promotion of Gibraltar’s Heritage. Mr Balestrino has served two separate terms as Chair and has now stepped down from this voluntary role and from the Board of the Trust.
He repeated his thanks in his address to the Trust’s Annual General meeting last week where he also summarised recent and forthcoming progress in heritage conservation.
Minister Cortes commented: “Ian has been a force for Heritage over the years that he’s served on the Board, both as a Trustee and as Chair, all of which of course has been in a totally voluntary capacity. His defence of Heritage in a firm but constructive manner has been instrumental in the way the relationship between Government and the Trust have developed to be one of working together to safeguard what we value about our past. Ian, I am sure, despite his retirement, will continue to contribute to this important work.”
