Sovereign Young Artist Competition 2026 Finalists Exhibition Now Open At The Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery

The Sovereign Art Foundation, in conjunction with Gibraltar Cultural Services, have announced that the Finalists’ Exhibition for The Sovereign Young Artist Competition 2026 is now officially open to the public at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery.

A statement from Sovereign Art Foundation follows below:

Entry is free, and  visitors are invited to explore 35 outstanding artworks created by Gibraltar’s emerging young  talents. 

The exhibition will run for one week, from Thursday 19 March to Thursday 26 March 2026,  showcasing: 

• 30 finalists in the SAF Students Prize (ages 11–18) from Westside Comprehensive School,  Bayside Comprehensive School, Prior Park School and Gibraltar Girls High School

• 5 finalists in the Young Adult Prize (ages 19–24) 

Exhibition Opening Hours: 

• Weekdays: 10:00 – 17:00 

• Saturday: 10:00 – 18:00 

• Sunday: 11:00 – 15:00 

 

Public Voting Opens 20th March 

Members of the public are invited to vote online for their favourite artwork from the 30 Students  Prize finalists.

The piece with the highest number of votes will be awarded the SAF Public Vote  Prize.

Silent Auction Opens 20th March 

Beginning 20 March, all exhibited artworks will be available for purchase via an online silent  auction, with proceeds split 50:50 between the artist and SAF’s charitable programmes, helping  to empower young people through the arts.

Prizes Up for Grabs 

 

Ages 11–18 (SAF Students Prize) 

• SAF Judges’ Prize – £800 to the winner + £2,000 to their school 

• SAF Public Vote Prize – £400 to the winner + £1,000 to their school 

• Alwani Foundation Award – £500 to the highest-marked Year 9–11 (GCSE) artist,  excluding the above winners 

 

Ages 19–24 (Young Adult Prize) 

• Ministry of Culture Award – £1,000 to the winner 

• AquaGib Second Prize – £500

 

 

Prize winners will be announced on Thursday 16 April 2026. 

The SAF Judges’ Prize winner will go on to represent Gibraltar in the Sovereign Art Foundation  Global Students Prize, competing alongside winners from SAF competitions around the world.
