Attorney General Publishes Protocol On Roles And Conflicts Of Interest

The Attorney General has published a "Protocol on the Roles of His Majesty's Attorney General for Gibraltar", agreed and signed by both the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions, providing guidance on how the Attorney General should act where potential conflict may arise in the performance and discharge of the various roles and responsibilities discharged by the Attorney General in Gibraltar.

Further to Recommendation 5 made by Sir Peter Openshaw in his Report in the Inquiry into the Retirement of the Former Commissioner of Police dated 6 November 2025, the Attorney General has published a "Protocol on the Roles of His Majesty's Attorney General for Gibraltar", agreed and signed by both the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions, providing guidance on how the Attorney General should act where potential conflict may arise in the performance and discharge of the various roles and responsibilities discharged by the Attorney General in Gibraltar.

The Protocol is accompanied by a cover letter sent by the Attorney General to HE the Governor and the Chief Minister. A copy of that letter has also been published and can be accessed in the same link as above.
