RGP Officers Recognised At The British Overseas Territories Women In Policing Awards

Two Royal Gibraltar Police officers have received formal recognition at the 2026  edition of the British Overseas Territories Women in Policing Awards.

A statement from the RGP follows below:

The event brought together police forces from across the UK’s Overseas Territories  community, facilitated by the International Police Association and supported by  Policing TV, Investigo Government Solutions, and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth  and Development Office (FCDO). The awards celebrate those driving progress and  equality within policing across the British Overseas Territories, and follow a process  of nomination and selection that is overseen by an independent policing coordination  committee that is supported by the UK FCDO.

At a ceremony held online yesterday across all UK Overseas Territories, two RGP  officers received "Highly Commended" honours;

Detective Constable Jade Santiago (RGP Economic Crime Unit) – “Leader of the  Future” Award – this is award recognizes emerging female officers who drive change  and bring fresh, innovative perspectives to the service. DC Santiago was commended  for her ability to influence those around her and her commitment to improving the  efficiency and effectiveness of policing within the community.

Detective Constable Paul Ready (RGP Professional Standards Department) – “HeForShe” Award - this award highlights the vital role of male allies in supporting  female representation in leadership, and improving how policing is delivered to  women. DC Ready was recognized for his advocacy and dedication to fostering an  inclusive professional environment.

In Gibraltar, members of the RGP Command Team and officers gathered at New Mole  House yesterday afternoon to participate in the online ceremony, with the awards to  the RGP officers presented by Acting Governor Marc Holland, in the presence of  Commissioner of Police Owain Richards.

DCs Santiago and Ready become the latest RGP officers to be formally recognised at  this annual event, following RGP Inspectors McLeod and Garcia-White in April 2025.
