Apr 23 - Mayor Hosts Lunch for EAASP Committee
Following the opening of the 40th annual European Association of Airport and Seaport Police’s conference, at the Caleta Palace this morning, His Worship the Mayor hosted a lunch at the City Hall for the delegates. The conference incudes a gala dinner to be hosted by the Government on Thursday, at St. Michael’s Cave.
The conference has been held in Gibraltar previously, but this year saw the highest number of attending delegates.
The theme for the event was ‘challenge, change and co-operation’, with law enforcement agents from around the world speaking at this morning’s opening. The EAASP seeks to promote international cooperation and advises European and international policy makers on matters related to port policing. The Executive Committee works closely with the European Commission and is active in working groups on both the maritime and aviation fields. RGP Commissioner Eddie Yome is currently the Vice- President Aviation.
During the well-attended lunch, His Worship presented president of the committee, with a crystal jug. He noted his participation in two other EAASP conferences, as director of customs in Gibraltar.
President of the EAASP Committee John Donlon, thanked Gibraltar for its hospitality towards the committee and delegates of the conference.
The lunch was attended by a number of senior Royal Gibraltar Police and Customs officers, as well as Minister for Justice Gilbert Licudi, Captain of the Port Roy Stanbrook and Director of the Airport Terence Lopez.
