Apr 24 - Convent Garden Design Winner
Winner of the Convent Garden Design competition, A Level art student, Nico Palacios was yesterday invited to the Convent, where he was congratulated by Governor Sir Adrian Johns for his winning design, which will be reproduced by Convent Gardeners.
Nico was persuaded by his art teacher Mr. Guilliano to pursue the competition and keep his design simple. The flower bed is set to include a scaled presentation of the Rock of Gibraltar, which the Governor insisted would be made using actual limestone from the Rock, a Union Jack and the number 300 to represent Gibraltar’s 300 year of being British.
The competition was open to all Year 12 and 13 students in Gibraltar, with the theme being ‘Gibraltar 2013’.
Nico was presented with an iPad by Cyril Dominicy of Newton Systems. Also in attendance of the presentation were judges of the competition, Education Director Joey Britto, and Deputy Governor Lesley Pallett.
