June 04 - Seamus Byrne Becomes IDO Adjudicator

seamus byrneThe Gibraltar National Dance Organisation have today announced that President of the Organisation, Seamus Byrne, is now qualified as an International Adjudicator for the world governing body the International Dance Organisation.

Commenting on his new status, Seamus noted that he was delighted. He added that it is always a pleasure to be involved in one way or another, with this wonderful World governing body. ‘The GNDO, as the official body for international dance in Gibraltar, has being very committed to the IDO for the last 32 years. This achievement reinstates the GNDO’s position to continue to work hard in Gibraltar and internationally for the benefit of our local dance fraternity.’

Seamus undertook his theoretical exams last year in Riesa, Germany where IDO Honarary Lifetime President Bill Fowler lead the seminar and exams. After successfully completing his theory exam, he then undertook his practical examination at the recently organised 2013 IDO European Championships for Ballet, Modern & Jazz and Show Dance World Cup in Biella, Italy. IDO Vice President Fiona Johnson Kocjancic and Chairlady Mimi Marcac Mirceta, both from Slovenia, supervised him through the practical exams that included 43 hours of dance over three days and judging 702 dance routines.

Seamus’ first official event as International Judge will be at the ‘Olympics of Dance’, the IDO World Show Dance Championships 2013 in November in Germany.
