Opportunity For Students To Attend UK Political Party Conference This Autumn

The Government have announced an opportunity for selected Gibraltarian students to attend one of the three main political party conferences in the UK this autumn.
A statement from the Government follows below:
HM Government of Gibraltar is providing the opportunity for selected Gibraltarian students to attend one of the three main political party conferences in the UK this autumn. This opportunity is open to students normally resident in Gibraltar and currently receiving a HMGoG grant to study in the UK.
Successful applicants will attend as part of the Gibraltar delegation and would be expected to assist at the HM Government of Gibraltar stand where they will have the opportunity to meet politicians, related organisations and party activists. Those selected will also have the opportunity to attend fringe events.
Their attendance will be under the direction of the head of the delegation and coordinated through Gibraltar House in London.
There will be placements for a total of six different students: two for each conference 1. The Liberal Democrats Party Conference (Bournemouth, September 20-23) 2. The Labour Party Conference (Liverpool, September 28 - October 1)
3. The Conservative Party Conference (Manchester, October 5 - 8)
HMGoG will arrange and pay for accredited access passes and cover (where necessary) reasonable travel (within the UK) and accommodation if the selected student is from a university not based in or near the city where the conference is being held.
Applicants should preferably be based in the city where the conference takes place
Applicants must be:
1. Gibraltarian (students normally resident in Gibraltar/receiving a HMGoG grant). 2. Aged 18 to 24.
3. Studying in a University in the UK.
4. Studying an undergraduate or postgraduate degree which is relevant (e.g. history, politics, law, economics, government, sociology etc.)
5. Responsible for ensuring their attendance at the conference does not clash with their studies and is cleared with their relevant tutors.

Applicants should set out, in no more than 500 words of their own, their interest in politics and why they think attending the conference will be of interest to them and relevant to their studies.
