Aug 15 - Minister For Education Congratulates A-Level Students
The Minister for Education Gilbert Licudi has issued the following statement on the A-Level results which local students received this morning:
“I would like to congratulate all those students at Bayside, Westside and the Gibraltar College who have been successful in their A levels.
“The overall pass rate for Gibraltar is 93%. This represents a 3% drop when compared to last year’s results. There are nevertheless some positive indicators that ought to be highlighted. There have been increases in the A*-B percentage pass rate across a number of subjects such as History, Performance Studies, Art, English and Psychology at Westside; Mathematics, Physics, Business Studies, Biology and Chemistry at Bayside and Spanish and Psychology at the Gibraltar College.
“This year, there are 8 Gibraltar Scholars (students who obtained three passes or more with A* or A grades).
“There will obviously be students who are disappointed. The Department of Education and the schools will be on hand to provide support and guidance on the UCAS clearing process. I would encourage students to make use of this should they find that their grades do not match their University offers.
“A full analysis will be carried out of all results with Headteachers and Heads of Department with the aim of identifying any areas for improvement in each school.”
