Oct 16 - Presentation Of Mayor’s Award To Elio Cruz In London
His Worship the Mayor Anthony Lima will be travelling to London at the weekend to participate in different events organised as part of the celebrations for this year’s Gibraltar Day in London.
On Sunday he will be attending a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by His Lordship the Bishop of Gibraltar which is being held at Our Lady of Dolours Servite Church, in Fulham.
His Worship will present Mr Elio Cruz a founder member of the musical group Los Trovadores with his Mayor’s Gold Award.
It will be recalled that earlier this year the musical group Los Trovadores were awarded a collective Gold Award by His Worship the Mayor in recognition of their longstanding contribution to Gibraltar’s Musical Life, spanning over 60 years.
His Worship considers it most fitting that Mr Elio Cruz, who was unable to travel to Gibraltar at the time the Mayor’s Awards were presented, should receive his award at the Church which is home to a statute of Our Lady of Europe. As is commonly known, the Statue was presented by the late Bishop Caruana in appreciation of the pastoral role this church played for many Gibraltarian families evacuated to London during the Second World War.
