Oct 17 - World War Two Tunnels Transferred To Tourist Board
‘Rock and Fortress,’ the private concern that has been managing and operating the World War Two Tunnels and O’Hara’s Battery attractions has been taken over by the Government. The new arrangements will come into place on November 1st.
The existing employees will maintain their jobs and continue to work in the attractions.
The Minister for Tourism, Neil Costa, welcomed the development and thanked Richard Desoiza managing director of ‘Let’s Go Limited’ who was responsible for the management of the sites over these past years.
Mr Costa said: “The Gibraltar Government wishes to place on record its thanks and gratitude to Mr Desoiza for his efficient management of these two important and popular tourist sites which will now be coming under the direct control of the Ministry for Tourism as from November 1st.
“We are confident that with this measure, our tourist product will be further enhanced and that both the tunnels and O’Hara’s Battery will continue to be enjoyed by visitors to the Rock.”
