Feb 19 - Port Authority Staff Attend Health And Safety Courses
Five Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) staff have recently completed UK accredited Health and Safety in the Workplace training courses provided by S & T Training solutions. David Pincho, Peter Buttigieg and Vicky Martin Riley successfully passed their Level 2 Award. Victor Calderon and Philip Mandleberg both achieved merit passes in their Level 3 Award.
Undertaking Health and Safety training is a mandatory requirement for all GPA staff in line with its commitment to providing a safer working environment for its staff and port users. The GPA has embarked on an ambitious training programme to ensure that all employees have a good understanding of the basic concepts of health and safety at work. As part of this initiative, all employees will be required to achieve the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace qualification.
The Minister for Transport, Paul Balban said:
“This is in line with the Government’s commitment to ensuring that health and safety remains at the core of our business in every sector, and underpins the Government’s desire to provide a safe and efficient environment for all users of the Port and its waters.”
