The Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) in conjunction with other agencies have today continued with the clean up operation caused by the oil spill which occurred yesterday morning. The GPA has focused on redeploying assets to combat the oil which is mostly located in the inner harbour. The main aim is to collect all the free floating oil and subsequently start with the cleaning of all revetments, quay walls and property damaged by this spill.
The Nautilus Project says it is “deeply saddened” by the oil spill event that occurred yesterday which follows the another leak last month which was caused by heavy rains The organisation says these spills will have “severe long term effects” on our marine environment.
GONHS has called on the Port of Gibraltar to carry out a “full and public” investigation into the oil spill which took place yesterday.
The Government says it is saddened to confirm a further death in Gibraltar from COVID-19 in the past 24-hours, bringing the total number of deaths in our community related to COVID-19 to 85.
