Sep 02 - 606 Mobile Numbering Range to Be Withdrawn by October
The Gibraltar Regulatory Authority has reminded ex-CTS (Gibraltar) Limited (“CTS”) customers that the 606 mobile numbering range will be withdrawn on the 1st October 2013.
This follows, as explained in a Press Release dated 8th April 2013, complaints being received from ex-CTS customers, in particular those using mobile services, who had ported their CTS numbers to another provider. These customers have encountered problems when callers from outside Gibraltar tried to contact them.
The GRA is confident that customers have had enough time to change their numbers to those allocated to other authorised mobile network operators and at the time recommended customers to contact their relevant current provider to make the necessary arrangements.
The Authority issued a Direction on the 26th March this year to providers of publicly available telephone services in order to address call routing problems former CTS customers were facing after porting their telephone number to another provider of publicly available telephone services. The GRA announced last April that it would be withdrawing the 606 mobile numbering range on the 1st October 2013.
In January 2013, the GRA removed CTS from the Register of Authorisations maintained under the provisions of the Communications Act 2006 and directed CTS to refrain from operating a mobile telephony network and fixed radiocommunications link.
