Jun 23 – Today, You Have The Power – Vote REMAIN

23 June 2016

By Selwyn Figueras

My vote is cast. I've voted for Britain and Gibraltar to REMAIN in the EU.

Today, YOU have the power - not just the politicians and the media. You. Your vote is as powerful and every bit as important as the vote that the Prime Minister, David Cameron himself casts.

This is one of the single most important events, and not just in the political context, that you will witness in your lifetime. The decision that Britain, together with Gibraltar, takes in the next 24 hours will have immediate consequences for us. This is not a case of "we'll see what happens a few years down the line."

If we're IN, the immediate consequence is a collective sigh of relief, a strengthening pound and the brakes being released on billions upon billions of pounds worth of investment by those who have been playing the waiting game. If it's OUT, we should ready ourselves for an immediate deterioration in the quality of life to which we are accustomed. Response planning will begin, sterling will take a nose dive, our former EU partners in Spain will be rubbing their hands with glee and Mr Margallo will make it his personal, Friday morning responsibility, to make the call to the border authorities and spew his venom as he has been hoping to do for years.

Don't give him the chance.

Do your bit to stave off this threat, to help us stay in the EU, to help Britain stay in the EU. Go out and vote Remain if you haven't already done so. If you have, switch your profile pic to the one we're all sharing, to try and motivate those who think that this is not important, that this is somehow irrelevant. Share it to persuade those who are undecided that if they are still unsure as to how to vote, they should go out and vote REMAIN because by doing so, they're leaving their options open. The vote for Leave is a definitive one because if we're out, we're out. There's no going back.

I implore you all - get out and vote and get the vote out for REMAIN
