Action For Housing Says Bridge House Project “Needs Vital Questions Answered”

Action For Housing says it welcomes the announcement that the much needed and long-awaited half-way house for homeless men, Bridge House, is going to become a reality.
A statement continued: “The pressure group has been asking for this kind of facility for decades and were disappointed when the St. Christopher’s Lodge project, announced just before the election in 2023, was scrapped.
“However, there are some questions which the government needs to answer. We wish to know why it is going to be run by a charity, Bridge House Charitable Trust, and funded by public donations and not by the government.
“If Bridge House is going to be funded solely through donations what is the amount needed and how long will it take for the necessary funds to become available before the project gets started? When will our long-awaited half-way house for men final open its doors?
“Lastly, can the government guarantee that the planned funding will be sufficient to adequately maintain and support the facility long term? There are still many questions which remain unanswered.”
