Gibraltar Espanol

It’s a well-known fact that the Spanish love their seafood. It is also a well-known fact that the Spanish fishing industry gets massive EU handouts to prop up what the Spanish fishing industry says is an industry in decline.

It is a well-known fact that the Spanish fishing industry uses methods to rape the sea, that have been largely been made illegal. Even though it has been estimated that the Spanish fishing flotilla has been almost halved since Spain joined the European community, from some 21000 boats to about 11000 today, they still get subsidies to the tune of eight billion euros. That’s right EIGHT BILLION EUROS.

The EU is financing these pirates to go wherever they please and fish using illegal methods. Locally things are heating up faster than a junkies spoon and its no longer about a few boats coming in and breaking Gibraltar law.

The Government of Spain has found a new way of escalating the whole sovereignty claim over Gibraltar and its waters by using the Spanish fisherman’s plight as a veiled way to rally support for their claim.

Spain’s claims over the Rock always seems to get worse every time the right wing brigade are voted in. With Spain’s economic plans in tatters, wide spread unemployment and discontent with the Eurozone, The Fascist Far Right Government will always try and avert the people of Spain from looking inwards and get them looking at what was and still is the little thorn in their side.

The current situation will not stop until the British Government takes clear and robust action. It pains me deeply that the United Kingdom will not stand up for Gibraltar politically as it should.

Frontier queues, excessive border controls, threats of border closure, Spanish repeated incursions into Gibraltar waters, Spanish royals snubbing The British monarchy, the list is long and plays out like a bully taking it out on the little kid with glasses, all while its bigger brother looks away.

The UK should start flexing its own muscles and tell Spain that their pettiness and sour grapes should be drank without grimace or distaste, Gibraltar is British it has been since 1704. There are super powers that are younger than we are, yet the archaic claim by Spain for the sovereignty of Gibraltar continues.

I hope that the UK is keeping a close eye on events and deals with this nonsense in away that it will show the Spanish Government once and for all to stop this childishness.
