It's All About The Money

When I try and think what is the reasoning about keeping the Euro in circulation, I cannot for the world of me come up with a sensible argument.

Greed is the main reason for the total failure of the Banks (With a silent W), Bankers (Again with a silent W) have been the curse of the twentieth century. Some would say war, but wars are about money too.

Timothy 6:10, if you read your religious books, got it right by penning,  “For the Love of money is the root of all evil. Some people eager for money have wandered from faith and pierced themselves with many grief’s”.

Thinking about it, money, at least paper money, will have no value other than the paper and ink that is printed with. Paper money is a promise by the governments that print it, to exchange these promises in return for services and the stuff we need to live day to day.

Without money we cannot eat, we cannot go out and have a knees up at celebrities on a Friday night, without money we would be walking around buck naked, (ok in summer, I guess).

But before the advent of money we would trade for the stuff we needed with other stuff and we did all right did we not?  I can see the problems that would present it self nowadays, when you want to pay for your brand new Mercedes 500 CLK with chicken eggs.

Greed has been the sole reason for what I believe is the beginning of the end for the Euro. When it started, many of the member states were but third world countries basking in relatively cheap goods and everyone seemed happy. Stick in a new unifying currency and WHAM, everything costs twice and three times as much but basic wages stay where they are.

Ok, so it costs money to produce and transport the goods to wherever it needs to, but are you telling me that a glass of very mediocre wine costs £4.50, or that a badly constructed one bedroom flat will set you back £350.000. No my friends, this is mark up, and mark up is what’s making some people very rich and others very poor.

There must be another way, but I am yet to find it.
