Feeling Disgusted
November 2010 saw the conviction of the former care worker Mario Cassano, 73, for sexually abusing two girls in his care. Yesterday saw the opening of the trail against an 83 year old local man, also accused of sexual abuse and gross indecency again with two young girls, who are now adults.
Both these cases occurred over many years of almost daily abuse, with the children only coming forward after many decades of living with the terror and shame of having been sexually molested.
I have nothing but praise for the victims that had finally found the strength to break free of the fear that had kept them silent for so long.
In the Cassano case, the accused was sentenced to six years; with Mrs. Justice Prescott stating the offences – particularly the case involving the tape - were “very near the top end of the sentencing scale”.
Six years for sexually abusing children over decades is in my opinion not enough, I being from the school of an eye for an eye, can think of many ways to punish these types of offences, one in particular involves a Bertschy Emasculator.
