Mar 21 - Darts League Raises £1,000 For Charity
The Ladies Service Darts League has raised a whopping £1,000 for charity.
The league is made up of service wives and serving personnel of the armed forces and has been running for around 16 years. The ladies play once a week during the season which typically runs from September to March.
Katie Edwards, a committee member, emphasizes the social benefits of the league: “The ladies darts enables us to come together as a community for a social evening. Our members are all a long way from home and their friends and family so this is also a great as a support network.”
Each year, the darts league chooses a charity to raise money for by holding weekly raffles, a Christmas party and a grand raffle at their end of season bash.
This year, the ladies chose a charity close to their hearts: 'The Sick Children’s Trust'.
Katie explains the reasons behind their choice: “We chose this charity as a former member of the Ladies Darts League, Farrah Armstrong, and her family have been going through a very difficult time and have had so much support from this charity. In particular providing them with a home near Great Ormond Street Hospital so they were able to be close by.”
The Ladies Service Darts League would like to say a “huge thank you” to the following businesses that very generously donated prizes to its charity raffle. With their help and other fundraising they have held throughout our season, they have managed to raise £1,000 for 'The Sick Children’s Trust'.
