Oct 17 - HMS Diamond Members To Leap-Frog Up The Rock For Charity
Members of HMS DIAMOND’s Ship’s Company have come up with a novel way of raising money for charity. Instead of the traditional method of running the Gibraltar Rock Race they have opted to leap-frog it instead.
Approximately 30 members of the Warrant Officers and Senior Rates Mess will attempt to leap-frog their way up the Rock to raise money for their Mess charity, The Hosanna House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT).
HCPT is a charity offering pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes in the south of France, for disabled and disadvantaged people from around the UK and further afield. The HCPT group the Mess supports are a friendly and enthusiastic group dedicated to helping disabled children with naval connections enjoy and benefit from a pilgrimage to Lourdes. The group is fortunate to have, as regular travellers, a number of dedicated nurses, often fresh from the front line at sea or ashore in the world’s trouble spots and some very experienced carers. The HCPT group always welcomes new helpers, of whatever age, who bring fresh ideas and fun to the pilgrimage.
The team from DIAMOND will depart from the Tower at 0900 on Tuesday 18 October and follow the traditional route taken by the Rock Race. However, as there are a few more mature members in the team, it may take them quite a while to get to the top. A support vehicle will follow them, providing first aid and water. There will also be personnel with buckets to collect any donations. Alternatively, you can donate via the following link:
