Schools’ Christmas Carol Concerts

On Tuesday 9th December, the 20th edition of the annual Schools’ Christmas Carol Concerts will take place.
A statement from the organisers continued: “These concerts were started in 2003 by Fr Charlie and Mr Luis Pereira in order to raise funds to take a statue of Our Lady of Europe to places where many Gibraltarians were evacuated during World War II. The places where statues were taken were Madeira, Northern Ireland and London.
“The concerts were very successful, and it was decided to continue them and use them to use the funds collected for other charities. Mary’s Meals was supported for several years and Fr Charlie’s Soup Kitchen has benefited from the proceeds of the concerts over the past few years.
“If we add 20 to the start year, we arrive at 2023, but with the COVID pandemic, we did not hold concerts for two years, thus making 2025 our 20th anniversary. Coincidentally, we are celebrating together with Fr Charlie being ordained Bishop of Gibraltar and are holding our concerts in the marquee set up at Victoria Stadium"
Two sessions are planned for the day, the first commencing at 5.00pm and the second commencing at 7.00pm.
The programme is as follows:
5.00pm session – Governor’s Meadow Lower Primary School; St Paul’s Lower Primary School; St Bernard’s Lower Primary School; Loreto Lower Primary School; Loreto Upper Primary School; St Bernard’s Upper Primary School; Westside Comprehensive School.
7.00pm session – St Joseph’s Lower Primary School; St Mary’s Lower Primary School; Notre Dame Lower Primary School; Bishop Fitzgerald Upper Primary School; St Anne’s Upper Primary School; Bayside Comprehensive School.
The price for entrance has been kept at £3 per person, and the proceeds will go to Fr Charlie's kitchen.
