Aug 06 - Multiple Sclerosis Society Gives Thanks

06 August 2015

The Gibraltar Multiple Sclerosis Society (GMSS) had a "Wear Orange for MS Day" to celebrate World MS Day 2015 in May.  The society says it would like to thank all those individuals and companies who joined in with the event and helped collect some funds for its future premises as well as helping to raise awareness of MS in the process.

The society collected over £2000,00 which will help kit out its premises. The GMSS is also looking into a more immediate way of using some of these funds by contacting the GHA and the neurologists from St George’s Hospital in order to provide anything which may help patients and their doctors at their clinics.

The society says that “enabling better and more varied testing locally which will lead to faster and more specialised treatments to help patients to live better for longer” adding that there is much equipment in use in the UK and worldwide which is not yet available locally.

The GMSS also thanks its “hardworking, voluntary, committee for all doing their bits for us all while holding down jobs and dealing with their conditions (which for us is not easy) A lot has been achieved in a very short time.”

The following companies have been thanked by the GMSS:

Bassadone, T.G.S, Capurro's, Argus Insurance, GibOil, St Anne’s School, St Mary's School, Governor’s Meadow School, STM Fidecs, Rock Fitness, Gianna Bosano's Pilates, Aegean Bunkering, Imperial Newsagency, Angelique Bossano’s Pilates, Richard Harman, The Gibraltar Pirates and all those people who took the time and deposited some coins in the orange GMSS collection boxes around Gibraltar on the day.
