Ministry Of Employment Launches Dramatherapy Workshops At Drug And Alcohol Rehabilitation Services

The Ministry of Employment has launched the developmental strand of the PATHS programme at Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services (DARS).
A statement from the Government follows below:
The Ministry engaged with local Drama therapist Nyree Robinson to deliver these workshops over a period of 8 weeks.
The sessions at DARS consisted of creative techniques like role play and improvisation, as well as storytelling, to help clients explore their emotions, behaviours and experiences. There were opportunities for self-reflection and self-development in the context of a safe, therapeutic group environment, which helped the participants address trauma, develop coping strategies, and improve communication and social skills. A total of 10 service users engaged in the programme, and upon completion were presented with certificates.
The Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, the Hon Christian Santos GMD MP, said:“I am delighted that the developmental strand of the PATHS programme has been launched at DARS, and Nyree’s extensive expertise in the field of Dramatherapy is an asset to the participants of our programme. Arttherapies are extremely beneficial for emotional expression, self-awareness and personal growth, and this is the first of several programmes we plan to launch to improve this cohort’s employability and emotional resilience. My sincere thanks to Nyree and the DARS team at Bruce’s Farm for supporting this initiative.”
