Sep 30 – Local Man Remanded In Custody For Cocaine Charges

A 57-year-old man “facing a lengthy sentence” was remanded in custody at the Supreme Court today for possession and possession with intent to supply more than 60g of cocaine.

Angel Ressa of Maidstone House, Laguna Estate, was arrested by RGP officers in July and pleaded guilty to both charges, and was subsequently released on bail.

Ressa was due to be sentenced today, but his defence counsel has requested a psychologist report. The defence also questioned the purity of the cocaine and the weight of the drugs seized.

Presiding over the case, Puisne Judge Karen Prescott said: “I am remanding Mr Ressa in custody. He has pleaded guilty for his conviction, and is facing a lengthy prison sentence. I do not see why he should not be remanded in custody.”

The sentencing will now take place on Monday 9th November at 10am.
