Jun 20 - Man Cleared Of Stalking And Outraging Public Decency Charges

A Supreme Court jury has cleared a man of stalking and committing an act outraging public decency.

The local man, who is 26 years old and suffers from a mental disorder, was deemed at an earlier hearing to be unfit to plead.

Giving evidence in court, a witness said she grew alarmed and scared when she realised she and her sons were being followed by the defendant. She also alleged that the man had masturbated in front of her over his clothes.

Puisne Judge Karen Ramagge Prescott told the jury their duty was only to decide whether the act had been committed or not.

Prosecutor Carl Ramagge appeared for the Crown while Thomas Hillman appeared for the defendant.

YGTV has decided not to reveal the identity of the defendant because he is considered a vulnerable adult.
