Sep 26 - GDP Federation Support National Police Memorial Day In London
The Gibraltar Defence Police (GDP) Federation says it was a “proud moment” to support the National Police Memorial Day by attending its service in St Paul’s Cathedral in the City of London yesterday. His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales was in attendance.
Mr. Martin Hosken, the GDP Federation Chairman, and Mr. Adrian Mesilio, the GDP Federation Secretary, say they were humbled to attend the National Police Memorial Day which was established to remember Police officers who have been killed on duty, to demonstrate to relatives, friends and colleagues of fallen officers that their sacrifice is not forgotten and to recognise annually the dedication to duty and courage displayed by officers. Gibraltar Police Federation representatives and fellow EuroCOP colleagues Henry Bautista and Anna Jones were also in attendance.
Mr. Martin Hosken said that since joining the European Confederation of Police and the Overseas Police Associations Group, the GDP Federation Membership are more connected to both British and European Police representative organisations. The GDP Federation says it will ensure that it plays its part in honouring and remembering their colleagues who have lost their lives in the line of duty and who paid the ultimate sacrifice in their service.
It was also a special occasion as the founder of the Charity, Inspector Joe Holness QPM, is due to retire soon. He has long been a friend of the GDP Federation and the GDP Federation wishes him and his dear wife Sharon the best for the future. The GDP Federation said it was fitting that very kind words of Joe and Sharon were made by Baroness Harris of Richmond and Sir Bernard Hogan Howe QPM at an Eve of National Police Memorial Day Reception held in the Great Hall in the Palace of Westminster.
