Feb 20 – ‘Yacht A’ Under Arrest In €15.3M Legal Claim
20 February 2017
Her unusual looks sparked debate when she first arrived last Wednesday but now the futuristic ‘Yacht A’ is the subject of an international legal dispute and remains anchored off the Detached Mole.
Authorities on the Rock have placed the Russian billionaire's luxury vessel under arrest because her German shipbuilder is demanding that the yacht’s owners make an outstanding payment of 15.3m euros.
The case is currently being heard in the Supreme Court with the Chief Justice Anthony Dudley having been asked today by the defendant's lawyer Anne Rose if the vessel could be released “as soon as possible”.
YGTV understands that, as is usual in these cases, 'ship keepers' are on board - two security guards who protect the vessel and its contents.
