Feb 21 - Man Who Caused Huge Panic With Toy Gun Jailed For Eight Weeks
21 February 2017
A man who caused “huge panic” across Gibraltar by waving around a £4 plastic toy gun was sentenced to eight weeks in prison at the Magistrates’ Court today.
Lewis Quinn, 24, of Mid Habour Estate, was arrested earlier this month after armed police officers and police dogs were called to the Varyl Begg Estate area.
He was charged with one count of causing fear or provocation of violence and initially maintained his innocence but changed to a guilty plea during his last appearance before the Magistrates’ Court.
Quinn was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison this morning, but this was reduced by a third for his guilty plea.
Quinn was represented by Patrick Canessa.
