Man Jailed for Assaulting Woman

A man who choked, kicked and spat at a woman during several violent incidents has been jailed for 15 months.
Leandro Villiger, 26, a Swiss national who is resident in Ocean Village, was sentenced in the Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He pleaded guilty to four charges of Common Assault and one charge of Improper Use of Telecommunications – the latter relating to abusive voice clips he sent to the victim via WhatsApp.
The offences took place between December 2022 and February 2023.
During one of the assaults, Villiger choked the woman with both hands around her throat, leaving her lightheaded and with red marks around her neck.
Villiger had been on remand since his arrest at the start of last month.
