Man Charged With Burglary

A local man will appear in court today after being arrested and charged with burglary during the early hours of this morning.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
Riyen Lea, 37, was arrested at around 2.30am at an address in Flat Bastion Road by Response Team officers.
His arrest came after staff at the Bridge Bar & Grill in Ocean Village reported that someone had broken into their premises at around 3.30am last Monday.
The report stated that a person had forced entry into the premises and attempted to break into a gambling machine and cash register – although no money was taken. An item of jewellery was reported to have been stolen.
RGP Crime Scene Investigation detectives were deployed to the bar following the break in for a forensic analysis.
Following extensive enquiries by Response Team officers, Lea was identified as a suspect.
After arrest, he was taken to New Mole House Police Station where he wasinterviewed before being charged for the offence of Burglary.
He remains in police custody until his appearance before the Magistrates’ Court this morning.
