Man Charged Following GHA Vehicle Theft

A local man will appear before the Magistrates’ Court this morning following an incident in which a GHA Paramedic vehicle was stolen – before it was abandoned in the Upper Town after a collision on Wednesday night.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
Francis Alman, 24, of the Varyl Begg Estate, was last night charged at New Mole House Police Station with Aggravated Vehicle Taking, Taking a Conveyance without Authority (attempted), Failure to Produce Driving License, No Policy of Insurance, Interfering with Vehicles and No Driving Licence.
Alman was arrested by RGP Response Team officers at around 9.15pm at Tankerville Ramp after police received a report that a GHA vehicle had been taken from the Accident and Emergency Department. Police also received a report that he had attempted and failed to gain access to an ambulance at Saint Bernard’s Hospital.
Reports stated that it was seen driving erratically within the Upper Town before colliding with MacFarlane House. The vehicle sustained minor damage.
Alman remains in police custody pending his court appearance.
