Man Convicted of Multiple Child Sex Offences
03 March 2025

A man has been remanded in custody after he was found guilty of 13 child sex offences in the Supreme Court last Friday.
Zakaria Laaraj, 35, had denied 20 charges, which took place between 2015 and 2020. He was found not guilty on seven charges.
The charges related to the sexual touching and kissing of two girls who were aged 10 and 13 when the abuse began in 2015.
Following the verdicts, Laaraj, who was born in Baghdad, was remanded at HM Prison Windmill Hill pending a pre-sentence report.
He will next appear in court on the 25th April.
Anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse – no matter how long ago – is urged to report it to the RGP by calling 200 72500 or reporting it on the RGP website at www.police.gi/report/crime
