Man Charged Following A Series Of Burglaries

A local man has been charged with a number of offences following a series of Burglaries committed earlier this week.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
20 year old Kaylan TORRES, of Glacis Estate, has been charged as follows;
1) Three (3) counts of Burglary
2) One (1) count of Attempted Burglary
3) One (1) count of Aggravated Vehicle Taking
4) Two (2) counts of Possession of a Controlled Class B drug
5) One (1) count of Using a motor vehicle without a valid policy of insurance 6) One (1) count of Using a motor vehicle without a valid Roadworthiness Certificate
The charges relate to reports of a Burglary and Attempted Burglary at 2 take-away establishments situated at Queensway, a Burglary at a take-away establishment in the area of Laguna Estate, and a Burglary at a restaurant situated in Gibraltar’s eastern side, all committed during the morning of Tuesday 29th April. Cash register drawers were stolen from 3 different premises which TORRES had forced entry into. The total damage caused to all four premises has yet to be confirmed, with approximately £500 - £1000.00 in total stolen from the various premises.
The charge of Aggravated Vehicle Taking relates to TORRES having taken a motorcycle without its owner’s consent, ridden it without a valid insurance policy or roadworthiness certificate, and causing extensive damage to it whilst committing one of the burglaries.
TORRES was arrested several hours later that day by Response Team Officers on suspicion of 1 of the burglaries, as well as for a minor amount of cannabis resin found in his possession.
As part of the ensuing investigation, detectives from the RGP’s Crime & Protective Services Division arrested TORRES in connection with the other offences.
TORRES was subsequently interviewed, charged and remains in police custody at New Mole House pending his appearance before the Magistrates’ Court this morni
