Mar 15 - Customs Seize 20,180 Cigarettes and 16 grams of Cannabis Resin

Customs Officials recently arrested three people in two separate incidents. The first involved a fifteen-year-old local resident who was found to be carrying 16 grams of cannabis resin as he walked through the Frontier. The boy appeared before the Magistrates Court and was sentenced to a £300 fine.
Another incident that occurred on Tuesday night saw two Customs Officers challenge two Spanish nationals as they attempted to exit Gibraltar. Following a search of their vehicle, 20,180 cigarettes were found within a false bulkhead behind the rear seat. The two men, a 50-year-old resident of Mijas and a 44 year old from La Linea, were arrested and bailed to surrender on April 11th. The vehicle and cigarettes were seized by Custom.
